|Orleans Ne Plus|
The Orleans Ne Plus - This banjo is designed to be a petite style style along the lines of the New York and Philadelphia built banjos along the lines of the Buckby and S.S. Stewart.
The neck is made of figured walnut with a hollow steel neck rod built into the neck to prevent warping or twisting. No neck adjustments are available nor needed. The ebony peghead is adorned with a graceful challis of mother of pearl with engraved shadows and a vine of Abalone. I designed this pattern while at Liberty banjo Co. in 1976. The ebony fingerboard and heel cap are adorned with abalone leaf designs and diamonds. There is a fine black/maple lamination beneath the peghead, fingerboard, and heel cap. Seventeen frets is standard but it is also available with an option of 22 frets or fretless. It has a 26 3/16 inch scale. Also available with an optional "Frailing Scoop". Included are 5-star Planet pegs and geared 5th peg with grained ivoroid buttons, tiny side dots and one railroad spike at the 7th fret. Additional railroad spikes are optional.
The rim is of walnut in either 11" or 12" diameter. It is 2 3/4 inches deep and 1/2 inch thick. The rim is capped with my patented ebony tonering which gives that sweet wood tone. Below the tonering on the inside is a band of wood purfling. The bottom is capped with ebony with a band of wood purfling beneath it on the inside and out. The ivoriod name plate is inlaid flush into the dowel stick.
The metal hardware includes a grooved tension hoop, flat hooks and my own design ball-end nuts, an original tailpiece, a petite armrest and an old-time ferrel on the end of the dowel stick. All metal hardware is nickel plated. Available with your choice of either a Fiberskin, or Renaissance head. A calfskin head is also available at an additional cost. Hardshell Bump case included. Price - $3250.00
